When Your Performance Needs A Tune Up
We all have days that are more productive than others. Time gets away from us. Things come up. It happens. But what about when weeks go by and every day leaves you feeling frantic? Do you ever look back at your day and wonder why life can’t cut you some slack so you can get things done? Often we feel that way because there is a component of our routine that is lacking organization. By creating a simple set of systems that feel good and empower you will push past that frantic feeling and into new levels of productivity. Systems = Optimum Performance. It’s that easy.
In order to give you an example of what I’m talking about, let’s look at my own systems. It all starts with how I want to feel in business and in life. I desire to feel Peaceful, Energized, Empowered and Loved.
Having peace for me in my daily routine consists of reading, running and cooking. When I take the time to work these things into my schedule, everything runs smoothly. Those weeks when I can’t seem to find my way to the grocery store (you’ve been there, I’m sure) and the only cooking I can do is throw in a frozen pizza, I’m not feeling great about my performance.
So, a simple system that allows for me to cook on a consistent basis is to take time on Sunday to jot down 3-5 meals we’ll have during the coming week, and then bopping out and getting those groceries to ensure those meals will be available. Keeping things very light and simple in the kitchen allows me to feel peaceful in business too, which directly reflects how I serve my clients.
What makes me feel energized is when I run or exercise every day. Again, creating the best system that will allow for this to happen is everything and keeps me ‘on-point’ at all times. When I’m exercising, everything just seems to jive better.
I feel empowered when I’m coaching. That’s what I’m called to do. This fires me up so I make sure I get the opportunity to be in front clients every day. The systems that have been created allow me to do this.
Feeling loved isn’t just a desire; it’s a vital aspect of humanity. As humans we need to feel loved and connected to one another. I continually reach out to my family and friends to ensure I am fueled by my relationships. My love meter is high when I ensure that I make time for others. This matters to me.
This week, I challenge you to create a system for yourself. Figure out what you need to feel in order to keep your business and your life running at an optimum level, and then define what actions you need to take to get there. It’s only a plan away.
